WonderSwan Roms Details

WonderSwan is a portable game console that was launched on March 4, 1999 by Bandai and Gunpei Yokoi-Koto. Here we have to mention a really tragic incident. Gunpei himself died in a car crash in 1997 and did not see his latest creation in the final version. In his honor, he was called the first WonderSwan game - Gunpei. Despite the fact that the console was originally in black and white, it was developed as a competitor to the then existing Neo Geo Pocket and Game Boy Color. The console offers two fun features: the input of personal data and the use of two joysticks. Before using the console, the user first needed to enter their personal information, including name, date of birth, gender, and blood type, after displaying the user's name on the screen below the Bandai logo. The second feature: users could play by holding the console horizontally and vertically. Actually, the vertical position was only used in some games, but especially for a second joystick was designed. As a rule, the console went on sale and never came to the foreign market, it was a purely Japanese product for the citizens of Japan.

The initial price for the consoles was $ 65, which was cheaper than the competition. In addition, console developers had a strong alliance with Square, which specifically promised to release remakes of the first installments of Final Fantasy for WonderSwan. However, the black-and-white screen did its job: the sales were low. For this reason, Bandai brings in December 2000 WonderSwan Color on the market. The new console is compatible with earlier versions, so all games of the first WonderSwan can be played in WonderSwan Color. In addition, around 100 games were exclusively released for WonderSwan Color. The console itself has grown a bit larger with a larger LCD screen and the price was $ 59.
