Mame Roms Details
The first public version of MAME was published on February 5, 1997 by Nicola Salmoria. The emulator now supports more than 7,000 unique games and 10,000 sets of real ROM images, although not all compatible games are playable. MESS, an emulator for many video game consoles and computer systems based on the MAME core, was integrated into MAME in 2015.
MAME: Also known as Multiple Arcade Machine Emulator. It's a free open source emulator that restores the hardware of arcade game systems in software on modern PCs and other platforms. The goal is to preserve the game history by preventing old games from being lost or forgotten. The goal of MAME is to give an indication of the internal operation of emulated arcade machines. The ability to really play games is considered a "good side effect". Joystiq has included MAME as an application that should have all Windows and Mac players.
