Fairchild Channel F Roms Details
Fairchild Channel F was the world's first computer to use cassettes with built-in programs, and the second in the world to use interchangeable cassettes with games. The market introduction and development of the console was carried out in November 1976 by Fairchild Semiconductor. The first name was Video Entertainment System, and the selling price was around $ 170 (today this is the equivalent of Fairchild Semiconductor's) around $ 700. Afterwards, the name had to be changed to the Fairchild Channel F console after launching the Atari VCS. Overall, Fairchild has sold approximately 250,000 Channel F consoles.
After launch, Fairchild Channel F was successful, but a small number of cartridges (a total of 27, also known as video karts) created the conditions to reduce its popularity. The price of the cartridge was generally around $ 20. Two games were integrated in the console: hockey and pong. The sound came from the console itself due to the built-in speakers and not the TV. In addition, there were four buttons and a reset button on the console, which were also used to turn the console on and off. In a short while, Zircon International Inc. acquired console development rights in 1979, launching a new console called the Channel F System II.
